Happy November everyone! You know what that means- That’s right it’s National Novel Writing Month! Hooray!
In case you missed my NaNoWriMo posts from last year, you can find all 9 here. It consists of Pep Talks taken from NaNoWriMo’s website and updates on how my writing went. Last year my goal was to get 20,000 words written by the end of the month and I ended up writing 20,226 words. I posted a weekly breakdown on December 1st. My goal was small because this was my first attempt at NaNoWriMo and because I was working at the time.
This year, I am not working and I am ready to take on a real NaNoWriMo challenge. Kind of. Obviously, I once again found myself in the middle of a WIP when November rolled around, so I’m still doing something similar to last year. Rather than actually writing an entire 50,000 word novel, I’m going to finish the last 50,000 (ish) words of Powerful.
If you check out my current word count (which jumped up a lot since I last posted), you’ll see that I’m currently 64,497 words in, and I’ve written 22 chapters. Looking ahead, it looks like the first draft of Powerful will hit around 110,000 words, and 37 chapters (as opposed to yesterday when it was going to be 38 chapters). That means that I have 45,000 (ish) words to go, and 15 chapters left.
There are 30 days in November. I write chapter by chapter. That means I just have to write a chapter every other day. It’s really not that bad or challenging. Especially considering in the past few days I wrote 3 chapters in one day.
It seems like such a daunting task until it’s broken down into smaller, easily achievable chunks. 1,500 words a day or half a chapter a day is an easy task. I can get it done. This means that I shouldn’t have a problem blogging as well, so expect to hear a lot more from me!
I also recently discovered a new way to motivate myself and keep myself on task. I update my word count on my Facebook page and on Twitter hourly as I write. Follow my progress and cheer me on! You have no idea how much the support encourages me. I’m almost done and I’m so ready to finish! NaNoWriMo is going to be awesome!

Good luck on Nanowrimo. 🙂
I'm not going to join technically, but I'm going to use the opportunity to finish my book.
